Thank you all for visiting. I have recently moved into a new house, which is the first house I've ever owned, and I've never experienced anything quite so crazy. I will catch up on Lately and get back on track! I hope you're all doing well.

December (2011) :: Lately

November was a busy month!

1 :: Ok, maybe not that exciting, but I made a huge dent in my hand-wash pile.

2 :: I did all of our holiday shopping! Yes, I did. I have a couple of things left to do, but they are just small things.

3 :: I made snowflakes. It was theraputic. And they look so pretty in our windows.

4 :: We visited my family in Virginia and took a drive on the Blue Ridge Parkway. I miss these mountains.

5 :: My mom (in Virginia) has so many plants. I'm jealous.

6 :: We visited Monticello in Virginia. It was amazing (and foggy!).

November 2011 :: Lately

I didn't take a lot of photos with my camera this month, so I thought I'd share October through Instagram!

1 :: I ate roughly my weight in candy corn. The pumpkins are my favorite!

2 :: I wore my cowboy boots a lot (it's been too hot since I've been here, and I missed them!).

3 :: I gave M a spontaneous gift one evening after a rough day at work. We had bourbon by candlelight. (The gift: The Flavor Bible. It's amazing. We gave my father one for his birthday as well.)

4 :: We came home one day to this princess playing with a lizard that she caught. In our house. Joy.

5 :: I did some serious cleaning and organizing. Why does it always feel so GOOD?

6 :: We went to an awesome storytelling party given by some friends. (We also celebrated our two-year anniversary.)

Lots of cheese this month!

1 :: Some good friends came over for barbecue and poker (and cheese). SUCH a great evening!

2 :: We went to Mackinac Island.

3 :: We had a visitor!

4 :: We had one of those wonderful weekends where nothing is planned yet everything is just right.

5 :: M's mother and godmother came to visit. More cheese!

6 :: I read. A lot. It's good for my soul.

September 2011 :: Lately

1 :: We visited the Georgia Aquarium. I can't wait to go back!

2 :: We went for a hike at a nearby state park, which was wonderful even in the heat. We made plans to go camping when it gets cooler.

3 :: I got some new plants and repotted some old ones. It was nice to get my hands dirty. (You can also see a glimpse of my many earrings here!)

4 :: We made some updates to our home, which I will show you on Dearingford soon. It feels lighter, brighter, and more like home! (Important in a rental.)

5 :: I made (and drank) iced tea. Lots of it. (Yes, I'm a decaf drinker. Caffeine makes me crazy! And gives me migraines.)

6 :: And yes, of course, I followed our kitties around with the camera. How could you not? Look at those fuzzy ears!

AUGUST 2011 :: LATELY

1 :: We visited a nearby cavern and park, which was just beautiful! See more here and here.

2 :: We participated in a fun pimiento cheese contest! We won in the Innovation category. (We made pimiento cheese bao buns. YUM.)

3 :: There is a very cute turtle living in our yard.

4 :: I have been settling in more to our new house. This pig is a recent friend, as is the plant. I had to leave almost all of my plants behind in Boston, which made me very sad. See more of our house here.

5 :: Doing my best to balance work and life. It's a battle that everyone faces; I try to stop and just relax every once in a while.

6 :: A trip to a beautiful nearby lake with friends! See another photo here.

3 :: Watching the (often very sudden!) rain showers.

4 :: Getting all of our things set up, set out, combined.

5 :: Catching up on sleep!!

6 :: Visiting the Birmingham Zoo.
